Butch Ware is named as Dr. Jill Stein‘s running mate for vice president.
The presidential nominee for the Green Party, Dr. Jill Stein, has chosen Professor Butch Ware to be her running mate.
Stein said that Ware is the best person for the job when he made the news late Friday night.
Stein said in a news release, “Butch is the best candidate because he has personally dealt with systemic injustice, knows a lot about history and people’s movements, and wants to build a sustainable, just, and peaceful world.” “This is a historic ticket with a Jewish woman and a Black Muslim man running against genocide, endless war, climate change, and widespread injustice. They want to see an economy that works for working people, a safe future for our children, and an America and a world that work for everyone.”
Stein also said that “Ware is a lifelong activist and educator specializing in the history of empire, colonialism, genocide and revolution.” His job has been to teach history, Black studies, and Islamic studies for twenty years.
The news comes at a time when Democrats are stepping up their efforts to hurt independent candidates.
A protest was made by the Democratic National Committee to get Stein taken off the Wisconsin ticket.
As per law, people who choose electors for the Green Party gathering must be state officers, lawmakers, judges, or other qualified individuals. People running for state congress can also take part. The lawsuit says that the Green Party can’t properly name a group of candidates because they don’t have anyone who can be a nominator.
