Chappell Roan Belts sings “Good Luck, Babe!” After a interview on The Tonight Show

Songs that are streamed these days are really short, which means they don’t have time for a break. Chappell Roan just went on The Tonight Show dressed as a costume bird and basically called everyone who avoids bridges a fool. Roan sang “Good Luck, Babe!” on late night for the first time on June 20.

The best part of the show was when she started singing the bridge: “When you wake up next to him in the middle of the night / With your head in your hands, you’re nothing more than his wife.” Roan looked right into the camera while wearing fake fog, a thick wig, long nails, and feathers on her face.

She sounded like she was haunting the girl she was singing about. Then she got up and belted out the last line with a voice that could cut through steel. We’re not very good at maps, but we think this is the way to become famous.

For people who are new to pop singer Chappell Roan, it may seem like she’s become famous overnight. But tell that to the girl in the photo she shared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on June 20 and to those of us who have loved her debut album.

The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, since it came out in 2023. Over the course of her funny chat with Jimmy Fallon, Roan talked about a picture of herself alone behind a computer on a small stage. “I had no money, and I was working at a doughnut shop,” she said.

Roan’s first performance on The Tonight Show was just a few weeks after her hugely popular performance at the Governor’s Ball in June. After her interview with Fallon, she performed her new song “Good Luck, Babe!” in a silly, feather-adorned way. Fallon then asked her, “What does it feel like to become a pop star overnight?”

Roan laughed, “It feels like I was right the whole time.” “Well, I guess I did make it when people came to my event a few years ago. Everyone else has been the cherry on top. It was like, “People came?! “

Chappell Roan tells Jimmy Fallon about Sasha Colby.

The singer told Roan, “I loved what you said at Coachella.” “You said, ‘I’m Chappell Roan, and I’m your favorite artists’ favorite artist.”

Roan said, “That was a reference to Sasha Colby.” He then added, “There are gay people here,” which got cheers from the crowd. She won Season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race and became a big star in the drag world. Colby is known for saying, “I’m your favorite drag queens’ favorite drag queen.”

She told Fallon, “It hit me right in the heart.” “And so I was like, ‘I hope Sasha Colby one day watches me, and that’s why I said it.'”

Colby later posted the Tonight Show clip to Roan’s Instagram stories, so she got what she wanted.

Roan sang her hit song in Studio 6B on June 10 while covered in feathers from head to…nails.

Roan told Fallon that she and her artist, Genesis Webb, get ideas for their looks from drag shows, scary movies, cabaret, and the theater. “I love being both pretty and scary.” Or something like pretty and tacky. Or just not pretty! “Yes, I love that too,” she said.

Roan sang in front of a beautiful swan chair on a stage that looked like something out of a fairy tale.
