An official “reinstatement” of the Heisman Trophy to Reggie Bush was announced on Wednesday by the Heisman Trust. This comes in the midst of what the Heisman Trust refers to as “enormous changes in the college football landscape.”

The Heisman Trust made its judgment after Bush was forced to give up his Heisman Trophy in 2010. This decision was made in response to major NCAA sanctions that were imposed on USC. These sanctions included Bush getting inappropriate advantages during his career with the Trojans, which lasted from 2003 to 2005.

The Heisman Trust has decided to return the Heisman Trophy to Bush, and they will also give a duplicate of the trophy to the University of Southern California. As in the 2024 season, Bush will once again be invited to attend all of the Heisman Trophy ceremonies that will take place in the future.

“Personally, I’m thrilled to reunite with my fellow Heisman winners and be a part of the storied legacy of the Heisman Trophy, and I’m honored to return to the Heisman family,” Bush stated in a statement that was provided to ESPN. “I also look forward to working together with the Heisman Trust to advance the values and mission of the organization.”
